Today, keeping in touch is very easy with all the social media outlets available. However we still miss the presence and sense of empathy with our loved ones.

NIDO (or ‘Nest’ in Italian) helps feel close to the ones who are far away.

The nest holds 5 unique light bulbs, each representing a different loved one. Each of the light bulbs is connected to the social media accounts of the person it reminds you of. As loved ones make posts, the light of their bulbs changes color to reflect the mood of the message, which is determined by key words of the posts.

NIDO is run by a Photon unit, which has a wi-fi connection. Through the ifttt server, the Photon connects to 5 twitter accounts and analyses content on posted tweets in order to find trigger words for different colors/emotions: blue for sad, red for loving, green for angry, yellow for happy.
